LaMarr Ruby Cummings, a lifelong Hudson Valley resident, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 in Poughkeepsie. She was 69.

Daughter of the late Richard Cummings and Dolce Lee, she was born in Manhattan on June 20, 1956.

In 2018, LaMarr retired from the Dutchess County Department of Mental Hygiene, where she dedicated her professional career.

Her hobbies included playing card games and trips to the casino, completing puzzles, and she always loved going to various shows such as concerts and theatrical performances alike.

Survivors include her son, Nael M. Cummings of Poughkeepsie; her daughter, Nedra N. Brown & her husband Ronald of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren: Zaisha Grant, Ezra Brown, and Eniyah Brown; in addition to her niece, Chante Vivas-Law, cousins, and countless other loving relatives.

She was predeceased by her parents as well as her siblings: Pauline Vivas, and Richard "Brother" Cummings.
