CHELSEA - Laura M. Burns, 93, an area resident since 1972 and formerly of the Bronx, passed away on September 18, 2021, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.

Born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on April 27, 1928, she was the daughter of Raymond and Jennie (Davila) Ocasio. Laura enjoyed playing Bingo and watching soap operas, but more than anything she loved her family, especially her great-grandchildren.

On February 15, 1947, in the Bronx, Laura married Edward Burns who predeceased her in 1999. She was also predeceased by her sons, Edward Burns and Ronald Burns; and her sister, Gloria Porras.

Laura is survived by her grandchildren, Vanessa Buggs and her husband Monty Buggs, and Mathew Burns; her great-grandchildren, Devin Ronald Buggs, Aryanna Elizabeth Buggs, and Aiden Ryan Buggs; her siblings, Iris Santiago, Ramona Maldonado, Mary Ocasio, Helen Peluso, Margaret Meyer, Raymond Ocasio II, and Frank Ocasio; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 3:00 -7:00 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. There will be a Funeral Service at 6:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 12:00 pm at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
