POUGHKEEPSIE – Laura J. Reilly, 57, an area resident for 20 years, died on June 19, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She previously lived in Bayside, Queens.

Laura was born in Queens on June 27, 1961. She had worked as the assistant to the publisher for K-III Communications Corporation in Manhattan. She was a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie. She was a past president of the PTA at Vassar Road Elementary School and Kinry Road Elementary School. Laura enjoyed spending many years as a "Sports mom", watching her boys play football, basketball, and baseball.

On November 11, 1989 at St. John's Church in College Point, Queens, Laura married Vincent Reilly who survives at home. She is also survived by her sons, Timothy Reilly and Sean Reilly; her mother, Doris (Hintleman) Scheer; her siblings, Donna McGarrigle, Richard Scheer and his wife Patty, and Arthur Scheer and his wife Sueanne; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Florence Reilly, Steve and Terry Reilly, Anne Reilly, and Pat and Tom Scanlon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Laura was predeceased by her father, Arthur Scheer.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 21st from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 9:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie.
