Laurence D. Burg, age 97, a Fishkill resident since 1937, passed away at home on September 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Laurence was born on April 15, 1926, in New York, New York to the late Donald and Henriette (Stromwasser) Burg. On February 7, 1948, he married his beloved wife Catherine (Pitts) Burg at St. Andrews Church in Beacon, NY. Catherine predeceased him in 2021.

Laurence proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944-1946. He worked as a Project Manager at IBM in East Fishkill. Previous to that, he was a photographer at Texaco for 14 years. He was an avid photographer and loved boating. Laurence was also a Lifetime Member of the Protection Engine Co. #1, Village of Fishkill Fire Dept. He was a Member of the Fraternal Order of Redman and was also very active in the local Boy Scouts and Little League.

He is survived by his children: Daria Baracca and her husband James, Steven Burg, and Linda Taylor and her husband John; his grandchildren: Jordan Baracca (Staci), Jeremy Baracca (Susan), Damian Baracca, Kendell Taylor (Christopher), and Benjamin Taylor (Cheyenne); 7 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Laurence was predeceased by his siblings: Dorothy Scafuri and William Burg.

A graveside service for Laurence and his wife, Catherine, will be held on Friday November 3, 2023 at 11 am at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc.
