Leon A. Harla, Sr., 78, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 50 years, died on January 13, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born on January 25, 1943 in Yonkers, Leon was the son of Anthony and Mary (Kulaga) Harla. He worked as the Director of Finance at St. Joseph Medical Center in Yonkers.

He loved gambling, and visiting his second home in Sun City, Arizona.

On March 3, 1964 in Yonkers, Leon married the love of his life, Jane Bogdan who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Susan Harla Manning and her companion, Robert Capuano of Wappingers Falls, Cheryl Healy and her husband Joseph Jr. of Wappinger Falls, Leon Harla and his companion, Marrit Thorkelson of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Kenneth Manning, Daniel Manning, Stefanie Healy; and his sister, Rose Marie Fuchila. He was predeceased by his son, Leo Harla and his sisters, Sr. Jeanne Marie Harla and Francis Kosmolsick.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1-5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
