Lillian Vrouvas, 80, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1956 and formerly of Flushing, died on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at her home.
Born on June 26, 1930, she was the daughter of Ignace Joseph and Margaret Melanie DeBersaques. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts for 35 years and was a member of the Adirondack Hiking Club. She also worked at the Town of Wappinger Recycling Center.
On June 13, 1956 in Poughkeepsie, Lillian married Peter L. Vrouvas who died on December 17, 2008. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Michael Diaz of Poughkeepsie; and her grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Diaz. She was pre-deceased by her brother, George Gaston De Meyere.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11 am at the funeral home followed by interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
