Lillian Wasserman, 95, formerly of Seabrook, Tinton Falls, NJ and East Meadow, NY, died on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Wingate at Dutchess.
Born on November 2, 1914 in New York, she was the daughter of Morris and Rose Markowitz Schwartz. She was employed as a Professor at Nassau Community College for 20 years until her retirement in 1984. She had previously worked as an elementary school teacher in Levittown. Lillian was a volunteer at Deborah Hospital in East Meadow and enjoyed reading, completing crossword puzzles and cryptoquotes, and playing black jack.
On February 19, 1939 in New York, Lillian married Milton Wasserman who predeceased her on February 26, 2005.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Amy Schwed and her husband Richard of Poughkeepsie; her son, Bruce Wasserman and his wife Nancy of Brooklyn; her grandchildren, Risa Gorelick and her husband Joseph of Suffern, Dena Morris and her husband Jeffrey of Raleigh, NC, Adam Wasserman of Seattle, WA and Kevin Wasserman and his wife Kelly of Stamford, CT; and her great-grandchildren, Jaime, Tyler and Joshua Gorelick of Suffern.
The family will have a memorial gathering at a date to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
