Lina Diaz passed away on July 7, 2025 at Putnam Hospital. She was 87. Born in New York, NY on September 18, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Pietro Fontana and Sara DaSilva, as well as the loving stepdaughter of the late Abilio DaSilva. She married her loving husband Rafael Diaz at in New York City. They spent many happy years together until his death.

Lina worked for many years as the Manager of Central Supply at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx. She was a wonderful seamstress, an excellent baker and cake decorator, and fiercely loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Peter Diaz and his wife Jeanne, Angelina Shishkowsky, Maria Diaz, David Diaz, and Sara D'Arce; her grandchildren: Jon Ayala and his wife Samantha, Kevin Franqui and his wife Aileen, Joseph Ayala, and Xavier Garcia; and her great-grandchildren: Keira and Penelope Franqui, and Dominick and Nico Ayala; and her stepsister Tina Fontana.

In addition to her parents, and her husband Rafael, Lina was predeceased by her sister Louise Camara.

Calling hours will be held on Monday July 14, 2025 from 9-11 am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Columba Church at 11:30 am. After Mass, there will be a procession to Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
