Linda L. Lawson, a lifelong local area resident, passed away at home in Hopewell Junction on Thursday, June 4, 2026. She was 82.
Daughter of the late William R. and Hazel (Blaine) Morris, she was born in Beacon on March 31, 1944.
Linda grew up working alongside her family on Fishkill Farms and was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. She graduated from high school at Wappingers Central School in 1962. She spent most of her career as a secretary for a local construction company. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and family and participated in many bake sales for St. Mary School, where her grandchildren attended.
On February 23, 1963, she married George W. Lawson at St. Mary, Mother of the Church. Linda was predeceased by George on November 26, 2010.
She is survived by her three grandchildren: Ashley Murphy & her husband Michael of Burnt Hills, Caitlyn Yackeren & her partner Adam Montesinos of Hopewell Junction, and Eric Yackeren of Hopewell Junction; her great-grandchildren: Madison, Mara, Mackenna, and Gabriella; her son-in-law, Donald Yackeren of Hopewell Junction; her sister, Nancy Raickle of Cambridge, MD; as well as many other loving family members.
In addition to her husband and parents, Linda was also predeceased by her daughter, Brenda M. Yackeren.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm - 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 9 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 10 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
