CCold Spring - Lois A. Piscopo, age 79, passed away on January 31, 2022 at Yorktown Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born in the Bronx, NY on March 29, 1942 to Anton and Emily (Roach) Hlavaty. In September of 1962, she married her loving husband Albert J. Piscopo at Our Lady of the Assumption in the Bronx.
Lois was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She would have been married 60 years this September. Al and Lois enjoyed their families and each other. They enjoyed skiing during the winter and beach vacations in the summer. She was a good friend to her neighbors and the type of hostess who could make you feel special over a cup of tea.
Lois was a homemaker for many years. She was a welcoming presence to many friends and neighbors. There were always kids in the yard and snacks in the cabinet. She was also the brains behind the laundromats Al and Lois operated in Wappingers and Tarrytown. Afterwards, she went back to her roots and worked as a teller at Bank of New York where she was a mentor to some of the other women.
Some of her greatest joys were her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them - playing games, reading to them and taking trips to the beach and on fun and educational outings. She was the type of grandma who would just spend time in your world and was apt to let you cheat at cards or dominoes with a wink.
Lois was an artist in her own right – she did beautiful needlework which she found relaxing, calligraphy, sewing and was a talented quilter. Her family are blessed to own some of her creations.
Lois is survived by her husband Albert J. Piscopo; her two beloved children Andrea Mahoney (Daniel) and Paul Piscopo; her grandchildren: Jonathan, Jason and Christopher Vargo, and Luc and Flora Piscopo; her sister Helene Tallo (Jerry) as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her brother Anthony Hlavaty (Margaret) pre-deceased her.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm with a service at 7pm at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. Interment will be on Saturday, March 26th at 12:30pm at Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake Rd, Congers, NY.
