Lonney C. Amos, aka “Bubba”, was born in Rye, New York on September 30, 1944 to the late Alexander and Dora (McClure) Amos. Lonney entered Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Darlene Marva Parker.
After graduating Rye High School in 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from service in 1968. When he returned, Lonney worked as a lineman for Verizon (formerly New York Telephone Co.) and retired after 20+ years of service. He also worked for Open Arms Shelter & Social Services in White Plains for more than 10 years.
Lonney was kind hearted and easy-going, with a gentle spirit. He was adored and loved by ALL who met him. He was known by many for his stylish dress, passion for cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles and poetry. He is a member of Saint Frances A.M.E. Zion Church, in Port Chester, NY.
Left to celebrate Lonney’s life are his loving daughter, Michelle A. Amos-Richburg, beloved son, Lonney Alexander Amos and devoted grandson, Adrian Alexander Richburg. He is also survived by his wife, Linda Amos, sister-in-law: Barbara Andralliski, brothers-in-law: Lawrence Parker and Terry Westcott, several nieces, nephews and a host of family, loved ones and friends.
A private homegoing service will be held at McHoul Funeral Home, Fishkill, NY, followed by burial at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.
