Loretta R. McMahon, 74, of New Hamburg since 1997 and formerly of Dobbs Ferry, died on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born in Yonkers on April 21, 1935, she was the daughter of Owen J. and Helen McGinn O'Brien.  Loretta was a member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. In 1953, she married Anthony Fernandes, Sr. Her former husband died on January 26, 2008. On April 22, 1999 in New Hamburg, she married Anthony "Pat" McMahon who died on March 26, 2009.
Loretta is survived by her children, Diane Fernandes of Hopewell Junction, Tony Fernandes and his wife, Midge of Mahopac, John Fernandes and his wife, Dorie of Fishkill and Robert Fernandes of Fishkill; her sisters, Betty Kwap of Toms River, NJ, Peggy Yurus of Wappingers Falls and Owen O'Brien, Jr. of Arizona; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her dog, Jelly Bean.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls followed by interment in Wappingers Rural Cemetery.
