Louis Joseph Bosch, 77, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Florida Hospital, Flagler, Palm Coast, Fla. Lou resided in Hopewell Junction for 46 years and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fishkill, NY.
Born October 17, 1933, in Yonkers, NY, Lou grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. In 1951, he joined the Navy. He served in the Korean War on the USS Wasp aircraft carrier and was honorably discharged in 1954. He continued to serve his country in the Naval Reserves through 1959.
Lou attended Syracuse University and received a degree in electrical engineering. He married Theodora Rubeko in 1956, and they had four beloved children—two sons and two daughters. That marriage ended in divorce. In 1977, he married Thora Voirrey Petersen, who had two daughters from a previous marriage. Lou loved these daughters as his own, and in 1982, he and his wife were blessed with a son.
Lou was retired from IBM, where he worked for more than 40 years as senior engineer in charge of memory development. During his time there, he was awarded numerous patents and honors. Lou was also a dedicated coach of Little League baseball and soccer, and deeply enjoyed his time spent coaching.
Lou was predeceased by his wife Voirrey, as well as his mother, Marie Mostler; his father, Louis J. Bosch; and his sister, Elmont Beckley. He is survived by his seven children, Susan Gleason, Louis Bosch, Bridget McGuinness, William Bosch, Jill Rust, Alyssa Ossenkop, and Timothy Bosch; 11 grandchildren, Liam, Brendan, Jessica, Justin, Brian, Matthew, Malia, Billy, Emma, Amanda, and Cassidy; and one great-grandson, Christopher.
Lou's greatest love was unquestionably his family and friends. He was a great lover of people and will be missed by the many whose lives he touched with his humor, generosity, and kind-heartedness.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. The burial service with Holy Eucharist will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at 11 am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1200 Main Street, Fishkill, NY, followed by an inurnment in the columbarium of the church with military honors. Reception will follow.
