FISHKILL – Louis Robert Clerc, 78, a resident of Fishkill for 35 years, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in Brooklyn.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 11, 1937, he was the son of the late Maurice and Lucille (Taiclet) Clerc.
Robert proudly served in the US Air Force from 1954-1958. He owned and operated Pen and Pencil Messenger and Truck Service in Fishkill. He was a parishioner at St. Mary, Mother of the Church. Robert was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary's Council #4065, as well as a member of the V.F.W. Post 1286 in Fishkill and the American Legion Post 72 in Saugerties. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
On May 14, 1960, Robert married Francine Henkel Clerc who survives at home. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Robert is survived by his children, Donna LaBarge and her husband Ronald of Fishkill, Robert Clerc and his wife Dina of Wappingers Falls, Kerry Moustakas of Fishkill, John Clerc of Poughkeepsie, and Jennifer Clerc of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Nicole Hocutt and her husband Doug, Kaitlyn Beamer, Ronald LaBarge, Jr., Erika Clerc, Alexandra Clerc, Stephen Clerc, Robert Clerc, and Anthony Moustakas; his great-grandchildren, Mara and Lucas Hocutt; his sister, Suzanne Zaralban; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery with military honors.
