Obituary

Louis D'Antoni, 98, a resident of Dutchess County since 1974, died on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at his home at the Manor at Woodside in Poughkeepsie.
Born in Boston, MA on February 26, 1915, he was the son of Peter and Joanna Ponti D'Antoni. On April 30, 1939 at St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, Lou married Marie Sabia who predeceased him on April 4, 2011. Together, they owned and operated the Botanical Meat Market in the Bronx and then Hopewell Wines & Liquors in Hopewell Junction. For 34 years, they spent their winters in Florida, enjoying many social activities in Deerfield Beach and Naples. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction, and a member of Joe DiMaggio Lodge #2248, Sons of Italy where he was very involved in their fundraising efforts for Cooley's Anemia.
Lou is survived by his children and their spouses, Joanne and Jim Piscano of Monroe, Doris and Bill Formosa of Wayne, NJ and Peter and Janice D'Antoni of Hopewell Junction; his brother, Philip D'Antoni of Hastings-on-Hudson; his grandchildren, Donna Valentini, James Piscano, Christine Basilii, David Piscano, Kara McConnell, Bill Formosa, Deanna D'Antoni, Jennifer D'Antoni and Michelle D'Antoni; and his great-grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew Valentini, Michael and Olivia Piscano, Nicholas, James and Jack Basilii, Caitlin and Allison McConnell, Michael and Joseph Formosa. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna Altieri and his brothers, Albert, Felix, Anthony and Gino D'Antoni.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 9am – 12 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 12:30pm at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Entombment will be in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery on Tuesday at 12pm.
