Louis J. Masciarelli, 81, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1992 and formerly of the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx, died on Monday, August 10, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born in the Bronx on March 17, 1928, he was the son of Mario and Anna DiPietro Masciarelli. Louis proudly served our country as a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for 30 years and was employed by the New York City Housing Authority as an Elevator Mechanic for 20 years until his retirement in 1993.

Louis is survived by his wife, Helen Garcia Masciarelli, at home; his children, Dawn Caivano of Throgs Neck, Louis Masciarelli, Jr. of Brooklyn, Lori Masciarelli of Throgs Neck and Dean Masciarelli of Throgs Neck; his grandchildren, John Kennedy, Josette Caivano, Dominique Caivano, Noelle Caivano, Juliana Masciarelli and Dean Masciarelli, Jr.; and his great-grandchildren, Julia and James Kennedy.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by military honors. Interment will be in St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
