Obituary

Louise C. Vasso D'Onofrio entered into eternal rest on April 29, 2012 with her loving children by her side. Louise was a resident of Poughkeepsie for 10 years and most recently a resident of Hopewell Junction for the past 2 years.

She was born on April 12, 1932 in Bronx, NY to the late Giuseppe and Antonetta Guliano Vasso. She graduated from Evander Childs High School and worked for Lord & Taylor in NYC. She married Pasquale D'Onofrio on May 19, 1956 and began the job she loved the most- motherhood. Louise and Pat were married for 52 years. He predeceased her on Dec.23, 2007. Louise and Pat moved their family to Rockland County in 1969. It was there that she raised her family and worked for Finkelstein Memorial Library for over 20 years.

Her adoring family, who will remember her always, are MaryAnn Colombo and her husband John, Diane Harter and her husband Steven, Thomas and his wife Marybeth and Roseann Locurto and her husband Paul. She will be greatly missed by her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas and Joseph Colombo, Laura and Amanda Harter, Adrianna and Thomas D'Onofrio and Dominic and Julianna Locurto. She is also survived by her brother Edward Vasso, sisters-in-law, Margaret Vasso and Dorothy Vasso and many nieces and nephews.

Louise enjoyed reading her Kindle, shopping for clothes and jewelry, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She was truly the strongest and most courageous wife, mother and grandmother. She was the center of her family and will remain in their hearts forever.

The family would like to especially thank the nurses and staff at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Oncology Care Unit for their attentive and compassionate care.
