Obituary

EAST FISHKILL - Louise Scott Jakuba, 89, died on May 28, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Louise was born September 5, 1931 and was the daughter of Alfred Bowne Scott and Hattie Niles Scott. She grew up on a farm outside of Walden, N.Y. She graduated from Walden High School and Spencerian Business School. She worked as a payroll clerk for the Firth Carpet Company in Newburgh, N.Y.

On February 10, 1951, she married John E. Jakuba, who predeceased her in 1995. Louise is survived by her 3 sons, John Scott Jakuba and wife Michele, James M. Jakuba and wife Lisa, and Jeffrey B. Jakuba and his fiancé Rachel Vail and son Aidan. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Jillian, Adelina, Kavan, and James.

Louise was a member of the Melzingah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Beacon, N.Y., the Hopewell Reformed Church, and the Wednesday Club. She volunteered many years for the East Fishkill Library from Fishkill Plains to its present location. She was also an election inspector for many years. Louise enjoyed playing bridge, the piano, and, most of all, reading.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10am at the Hopewell Reformed Church, 143 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Hopewell Cemetery.
