Luigi Capparelli, 65, a resident of Dutchess County since 1981, formerly of New Rochelle, Portland, Oregon, and Italy, died on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Italy on August 8, 1945, he was the son of Vincenzo Capparelli and Rosa Regina. Luigi enjoyed watching Italian League Soccer, making homemade wine, and most of all he loved spending time with family and friends. Anyone who knew Luigi appreciated and will miss his unique sense of humor. He owned and operated GiGi's Tailors in Hopewell Junction until 1995.

On August 11, 1973 in New Rochelle, Luigi married Josephine Trotta who survives at home. In addition, he is survived by his daughter Sonia Delgado and her husband Felix of Wappingers Falls; his son Vincent Capparelli and his wife Nicole living in New Rochelle; his grandchildren Jaiden and Addison Delgado; his sisters Pasqualina, Giovannina , and Giuseppina; his brothers Umberto and Romano. He was predeceased by his sister Maria and brothers Antonio and John.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 103 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
