Lydia Mae Mac Donald, 88, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2013 with her daughter, Lois and son-in-law, Thomas by her side, at Charlotte Harbor Healthcare Center, Port Charlotte, FL. She was born to the late Neil and Tressie (nee; Clyburne) Mac Donald on September 15, 1924 in Rocky Mountain, Nova Scotia, Canada.
She worked most of her life as Certified Nursing Assistant in the Healthcare for many years. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and taking care of her family. Lydia Mae's husband, William for over 50 years of marriage, has pre-deceased her, also preceded in death are her three sons, Archibald "Arcie", Edward, and Thomas; sister, Helen, Hillier; brothers Bud, Robert, and Bill; two daughter-in-laws, Christine and Anne.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Lois A. Gorman and her husband Thomas of Punta Gorda, FL; sons, John Mac Donald of Punta Gorda, FL, Robert Mac Donald of Dover Plains, NY and James Mac Donald of Beekman, NY; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Mac Donald of Yonkers NY; brother, George F. Mac Donald; sisters, Anne Henderson, Theresa Fraser, and Shirley (Keith) Cruickshank; two sister-in-laws, Agnes Mac Donald and Shirley Mac Donald; She is known to many as Granny, so many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive her. She will greatly be missed by all her knew her, Rest In Peace. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4 - 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at the funeral home followed by burial at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
