RED HOOK – Lynn Frances Odell, 60, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 4, 2024. A resident of Red Hook for the last 36 years, she previously lived in Hopewell Junction and the Bronx.
Born in the Bronx on November 2, 1963, Lynn was the daughter of the late Richard and Marilyn (Wagner) Burfeindt. She had been employed by IBM in East Fishkill as well as Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center before taking time off to raise her family. She then worked as concierge for the Delamater Inn in Rhinebeck until her retirement.
Lynn had many creative talents including painting, gardening, creating beautiful wreaths and was always dreaming up her next "DIY" project. She enjoyed photography, and liked taking pictures of wildlife, especially birds. She bred labrador retrievers, and will be missed by her own beloved pets, Chloe, Alice and Esmee. Lynn was a natural caregiver who nurtured everyone and everything around her. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.
She was the beloved wife of Stephen Odell, their marriage a testament to unwavering commitment. Together, they created a family founded on love, building a home with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. Lynn always put her children first with endless love, support, and encouragement.
Lynn was known to be a fighter. Her tenacity in the face of numerous illnesses, including her courageous battle against cancer was a testament to her strength and unwavering spirit. Her legacy extends far beyond the challenges she endured; it is woven into the lives she has touched with her kindness, wisdom, and unyielding love.
On February 14, 1986 in Beekman, Lynn married Stephen J. Odell who survives at home. She is also survived by her children, Shane Odell and his wife Taylor of LaGrangeville, Branden Odell of NC, and Courtney Pomerantz and her husband Matthew of NC; her grandchildren, Graham and Finnegan Odell; her brothers, Craig Burfeindt and Eric Burfeindt and his wife Jill; her father-in-law, Raymond Odell; and many nieces and nephews. Lynn was looking forward to meeting her granddaughter in February.
In addition to her parents, Lynn was also predeceased by her brother, Richard Burfeindt, Jr. and her mother-in-law, Claire Odell.
