Obituary

Mae C. Owen, 86, a lifelong area resident, died on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Beacon on May 26, 1928, she was the daughter of James and Cecelia Jackson Stanton. Mae was a member of the Hopewell Reformed Church.

Mae was married to Robert H. Owen who predeceased her on November 11, 1975. She is survived by her children, Diane Shafer of Newburgh, Gary Owen and his wife Sue of Hopewell Junction, Ronald Owen and his wife Gail of Beacon; her grandchildren, Gerald E. Shafer Jr., Robert Shafer, Jennifer and Chris Lalli, Gary T. and Christine Owen, Ron Peter Owen, Sunshine Owen, Ron Owen and Jessie Owen; her great-grandchildren, Kody, Tanner, Jett, Zachary, Abigail, Marin and Serena; her sister, Shirley Stanton of Beacon; her brother, David Stanton of Hopewell Junction; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Marie Shafer; and her siblings, John, Raymond, Hugh, James and Elsie Stanton, Frances Coleman.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10am the funeral home with Rev. Taylor Holbrook officiating. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
