Marcos J. Santiago, a resident of Miami, FL and formerly of the Bronx, died on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. He was 65.
He was born on December 27, 1949 in the Bronx, where he grew up and attended college. Following college, he began a career working at Con Edison for more than 15 years until he relocated to Florida in 1986. While in Florida, he worked at the Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Department of Forestry and Miami Children's Hospital. He was recently appointed Treasurer of his local Dialysis Support Group where he served diligently until his death. He relocated to Florida in 1986.
Marcos worked as a security guard at Miami Children's Hospital. He was a member of a dialysis center support group and served as treasurer. His hobbies included cooking, family gatherings, and taking long drives. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Ortiz) Santiago, at home; his son, Marcos Santiago, Jr. of Miami, FL; his daughter, Stephanie DeFritas & her husband Andre of Miami, FL; his mother, Elaine Tirades Santiago of Beacon, NY; his grandchildren, Lukas, Azalea, Samira, Shiori, and Alaya; his sisters, Jo-Ann Santiago of Rye, NY, Elaine Saint Cyr & her husband Reynold of Denville, NJ, and Anna Quintero & her husband Ricardo of Beacon, NY; also many nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30 at St. Anselm Church, 685 Tinton Ave., Bronx. Interment will follow at St. Raymond Cemetery in the Bronx.
