WAPPINGERS FALLS – Margaret Mary Armeno, 75, an area resident since 1999, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2023 at the Lutheran Care Center. She previously lived in Rochester.

Born in Ireland on June 10, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Ellen (Mulvey) Dowd. Margaret was employed by Eastman Kodak for over 37 years then worked at ReMax until her retirement. She enjoyed volunteering for the Dutchess County Office for the Aging, and was part of the Ombudsman Program providing support to people in nursing homes.

A devoted Catholic, She was a parishioner at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. Margaret was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH) and was part of the Cursillo Movement in 2016.

On April 15, 1978 at St. Veronica's Church in Howell, NJ, Margaret married Santo "Sonny" Armeno who survives at home. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Valerie and Zachariah Gray and Joseph and Kristen Armeno; her grandchildren, Aidan Jackson Armeno and Madeleine Rose Armeno; her siblings, Ellen "Eileen" Sullivan and her husband Michael and Martin Dowd and his wife Bernadette; her nephew and nieces, Kevin and Eileen Dowd, Noleen and Neil Mooney and Sinead Dowd and her great-nephews, Thomas and Michael and Noah and Ben; many dear cousins in the United States and Ireland; and friends who were like family in Rochester and locally.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Michael "Noel" Dowd.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 28th from 5 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, September 29th at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
