Margaret Rose Capozzi, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Beacon, NY on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
Daughter of the late Patrick and Susan (Hayden) Hannon, she was born in Beacon on December 24, 1934. She grew up in Beacon. On October 17, 1959, she married Daniel J. Capozzi at St. Joachim Church. They raised their family in Malverne, NY and Putnam Valley, NY, then retired to Beacon in 2000.
She earned a bachelor's degree from the College of Mount St. Vincent in the Bronx and later earned a master's degree from Lehman College. Following in the footsteps of her beloved mother and aunt (Anne Dingee), Margaret was a proud nurse who for more than 30 years worked for the Visiting Nurse Service of New York.
She was an active parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church, in Fishkill, NY, where she was a member of the Parish Friends Committee and other church groups. Margaret's passion for community service was undeniable as she volunteered for countless organizations including American Cancer Society, Catholic Charities, Mount Gulian, and the Tioronda Garden Club. She loved living in the Hudson Valley and was passionate about the region's local history.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband on April 7, 2017.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Liz Lundgren & her husband Larry of The Villages, FL; her son, Daniel Capozzi of Long Beach, NY; her daughter, Anne Capozzi of New York, NY; her daughter, Suzy Capozzi of Peekskill; her grandsons, Patrick Lundgren & his wife Abby and Thomas Lundgren; her sister, Judith Keating & her husband William of Lagrangeville, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless other loving relatives.
In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was also predeceased by her siblings, Patrick Hannon, Mary Tully & her husband William, Suzanne McElduff & her husband John, and Michael Hannon.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, July 9 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am on Friday, July 10 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY.
