Obituary

EAST FISHKILL - Margaret L. Fairchild, 77, an area resident since 1985 and formerly of Manhattan, died on October 14, 2024 at the Sapphire Nursing Home.

Born in Manhattan on September 16, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ann (Browne) Fairchild. She had been employed as a food service worker for the Bronx VAMC. Although legally blind from birth, Margaret lived a very full life. She learned to read braille, and enjoyed baking, and listening to music and television shows, but more than anything, she loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Margaret is survived by her brothers, Charles, Thomas and Michael Fairchild; her nieces and nephews, Michael Fairchild, Katherine Pidanick, Christopher Fairchild, Josh Fairchild, Cindy Foster, Chuck Fairchild and Julie Fairchild; and her great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind beloved cousins, Rick Breitfeller, Susan Breitfeller and Eileen Zawistowski and their children whom she also considered her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Harriet Ramsey.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
