Margaret C. "Marge" Ruiz, a resident of Poughquag, NY since 1979, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 87 years old.

Born on October 11, 1938, in the Bronx, NY, Marge was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Lignal) Nicastro.

On December 31, 1966, she married the love of her life, Louis Ruiz. Together they shared more than 52 years of marriage until Louis's passing on June 28, 2019. Their enduring love and devotion to one another served as an inspiration to all who knew them.

For nearly twenty years, Marge served as the Pharmacy Manager at Beekman Pharmacy. More than simply managing a pharmacy, she built lasting relationships with her customers, treating each person who walked through the door with kindness, compassion, and genuine care. To many, she became not just a trusted professional, but a cherished friend.

A proud Life Member of the Beekman Ladies Auxiliary, Marge was deeply committed to her community. She was a woman of unwavering faith whose life was guided by love, generosity, and kindness. A great listener with a warm and welcoming personality, she never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated.

Marge found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved animals, enjoyed dancing, and treasured every opportunity to gather with family and friends over a good meal. Above all else, her family was the center of her world. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who never missed a sporting event, school function, or milestone celebration. Her children and grandchildren could always count on her unconditional love, encouragement, and support. One of the many cherished memories her family holds dear is that she never ended a day without kissing her children goodnight.

Marge is survived by her loving daughter, Dana (Ralph) Canzone; her son, Louis Ruiz; and her cherished grandchildren, Sarah Canzone and Matthew Canzone. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She shared an especially close bond with her niece, Teresa, whose love, guidance, and support were invaluable in helping navigate Marge's healthcare journey in recent years.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Marge was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Nicastro.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM at St. Denis Church. Interment will immediately follow at St. Denis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Margaret's memory to the Dutchess County SPCA, the Wounded Warrior Project, or Humane World for Animals.

Marge's legacy is one of faith, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family. Her gentle spirit, loving heart, and generous nature touched countless lives and will be remembered always by those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
