Margaret M. Varuzzo, 48, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at her home.

Born in the Town of Poughkeepsie on July 8, 1961, she was the daughter of Jane Etta Travis of Wappingers Falls and the late Francis R. Travis, Jr.  She received her Bachelors Degree from the College of St. Rose in Albany in 1983 and her Masters Degree from Adelphi University in 1986.  Margaret had been employed as a social worker for the Astor Home for Children and then as an office administrator for Paul Effman Music in Poughkeepsie until 2006.  She was a member of the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church.

On December 30, 1989 at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, Margaret married Louis C. Varuzzo, Jr. who survives at home.  In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her brothers, Gerald F. Travis and Robert J. Travis of Wappingers Falls; her sister, Eileen Horton of Poughkeepsie; 11 nieces and nephews and 1 great-niece.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church, 2381 New Hackensack Road, Poughkeepsie with Rev. Robert Thompson-Gee officiating.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
