Margot J. Contone, a resident of Fishkill, NY, passed away on August 19, 2023. She was 75 years old.
Margot was born and raised in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany on March 19, 1948, the daughter of Josef and Anneliese Stiegeler. While in Germany she studied as a Jeweler's apprentice and continued working in that industry when she immigrated to New York City in 1969.
After moving to Wappingers Falls years later, she worked at IBM and held various administrative roles. In retirement, she reignited her creativity by acting as lead media/designer for a local Hudson Valley publication. Margot adored the Hudson Valley region and permanently settled in Fishkill because it reminded her of "home" in Germany.
Margot was an avid gardener, just like her father. She was fond of orchids and tended to the grounds around her home to create beautiful landscapes. She also loved baking traditional German cookies for family and friends. Above all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Margot is survived by her children, Salvatore Cantone, Jr., Karin (Stephen) Hanson, and Christine (Michael Parr) Cantone; grandchildren Kristopher Hanson, and Evan and Colin Parr; her sister Elke Straub, several nieces and nephews in Germany; and her partner of over 30 years Joseph Caplan.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Josef and Anneliese Stiegeler, and her brother Josef Stiegeler.
