Maria Santos Borba, a 42-year resident of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 76.
Daughter of the late Miguel and Izaura Dos Santos, Maria was born in Parnaso, Brazil on March 12, 1943. She emigrated to the United States in 1971 and resided in the Bronx for several years until 1977 when she relocated to Mount Vernon with her family.
Maria loved gardening and tending to plants and flowers. She loved animals, especially her German Shepherds. She also enjoyed keeping busy while working on various projects throughout her home. She spent many years working as a housekeeper.
Survivors include her daughter, Monica Borba of Somers; her son, Marcos Borba & his wife Stephanie of Hopewell Junction; her son, Marcio Borba of Wappinger; her daughter, Jenifer Borba of Wappinger; her grandchildren, Michael Mianti, Eric Mianti, Matthew Borba, Danielle Borba, Brooke Borba, Eliana Borba, Madison Borba, Jaclyn Borba, Ryan Sullivan, Marc Sullivan, and William Sullivan; as well as many other loving relatives, including her family members in Brazil. She is also survived by her by her faithful and loving companion, Kobe.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 28th at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 29th at the funeral home, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
