Maria M. Cavalieri

Maria M. Cavalieri, 79, an area resident since the 1970's, died peacefully on June 28, 2026 at the Eleanor Nursing Care Center. She previously lived in Yonkers.

Born in Yonkers on August 23, 1946, Maria was the daughter of the late Marino and Rose (Colabatistto) Gizzi. She began her career in cosmetology and hairdressing, before retiring from the New York State Department of Corrections after working at Sing Sing Correctional Facility for over 20 years.

Maria enjoyed cooking especially preparing her homemade pasta. Above all, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.

Maria is survived by her sons, Joseph Iacomini (Stacy Tyrel) and Angelo Iacomini (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Michael, Mackenzie, Kerry, and Kaitlyn; her 2 great-grandchildren; her stepdaughter, Diane Cavalieri; her brother, Vincent Gizzi and his wife Kathy; her brother-in-law, Earl Wagner; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Maria was also predeceased by her husband, Anthony Cavalieri in 2011; and her sister, Madelyn Wagner.

Visitation will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Thursday, July 2nd from 5 - 8 pm with a funeral service at 8pm.
