Maria C. Gallardo, 80, a resident of Hopewell Junction and previously from the Bronx, died on November 16, 2021 at home surrounded by her children, grandchildren and close friends.

Born on January 27, 1941, in Colombia, Maria was the daughter of Leonardo Ibanez and Juana Montenegro Ibanez. In 1977, Maria immigrated to the United States from Colombia.

Maria enjoyed having her family around her, cooking, gardening, casino games, and visiting her favorite casino – Yonkers Raceway.

Maria was the strength of the family, she was loved and will be missed greatly.

Maria is survived by her children, Sara Pineiro, Elizabeth and Manuel Santiago, Juan and Vilma Gallardo, Miguel and Janet Gallardo, Maria and Phillip Halpin, Beatriz and Thomas Lennane, Milagros and Raymond Gonzalez; 20 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters. She was predeceased by her loving husband Lorenzo Gallardo, her son Luis Gallardo, her grandson Lorenzo and 12 brothers and sister.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 9-11 am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by a service at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
