Maria Maciag, 99, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in the Bronx, she was the daughter of the late Kazeimierz and Yuliz (Rybacki) Jankowski. Her family moved to Poland when she was young and she returned to the United States in 1959. Maria owned a clothing store in Yonkers for many years.
On December 4, 1989 at St. Casimir Church in Yonkers, Maria married Jozeph Maciag who survives at home. She is also survived by her nephews, Andrew Jankowski and his wife Cindy of Fort Myers, FL, Edward Jankowski and his wife of Queens, and Richard Jankowski and his fiancee Jennifer of Hopewell Junction; her nieces, Eva Novak and Janina Cantone; her great-nephew, Nicholas Jankowski; and her great-nieces, Anna and Evelyn Jankowski, and many more. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Stanley Kapla in 1984, her 5 brothers, 1 sister, and her niece Helen Jankowski.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
