HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Maria Marquez, 87, an area resident for 10 years, died on January 24, 2020 at the Lutheran Care Center. She previously lived in the Bronx.

Born in Puerto Rico on September 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Higinio and Victoria (Santiago) Rivera. She was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center until her retirement.

She was predeceased by her husband, Francisco Marquez on February 23, 1985. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Marquez of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Victoria, Jennifer, Edward, Melissa, Angelic, and Jovani; 9 great-grandchildren; and extended family. In addition to her husband and parents, Maria was also predeceased by her son, Richard Marquez and her daughter, Jacqueline Marquez.

She loved spending time with her entire family, and especially enjoyed cooking for them.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
