Maria Olrich

With profound love and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Maria Olrich, born on May 4, 1947, in Yauco, Puerto Rico, and who left this world on June 15, 2026. Maria was a cherished wife, mother, nana, and friend whose warmth, grace, and compassion touched the lives of everyone around her.

Maria is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Ferenc Olrich, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and unwavering support. She is also survived by her daughter, Heidi Murphy, and son-in-law, Frank Murphy, who will forever carry her love and guidance. Among the greatest joys of Maria's life were her grandsons, Colin and Sean, whom she adored beyond measure.

Maria was predeceased by her beloved parents, Raul Orta and Iluminada Orta Rosario, as well as her brother, Raul Orta, a proud United States Marine veteran. Their memory remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Throughout her life, Maria worked in various roles and, at one point, served as a nurse's aide, where her natural ability to care for others and treat everyone with kindness was always evident. No matter the job, she brought compassion, patience, and a gentle strength that made others feel valued and seen.

Maria also had a joyful/feisty spirited side-she always loved to have a good time. Whether sharing a laugh, dancing, or simply being surrounded by the people she loved, she embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm that lifted those around her.

Of all her roles, Maria's favorite title was "Nana." She poured limitless love into her grandsons, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Maria will be remembered for her tender heart, her generosity of spirit, and her unwavering dedication to her family. Her presence brought comfort and peace, and her legacy will continue through the love she shared so freely.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, June 22 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 23 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY.
