It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Proietti, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and talented dressmaker, who entered eternal rest on July 10, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born on May 18, 1934, in Calabria, Italy, Maria was the daughter of Francesco and Emma (Ferro) Lupinacci. She came to the United States in 1955 and lived in the Bronx until moving to Hopewell Junction in 1975. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Columba Church. Maria brought love, warmth, and an indomitable spirit of faith to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

On April 29, 1956 in Rome, Italy, Maria married Carlo Proietti who predeceased her on February 3, 2009. In addition to her husband and parents, Maria was also predeceased by her grandson, Joseph Meier; and her siblings, Donato Lupinacci, Luigi Lupinacci and Aurelia Schavio.

Maria is survived by her children and their spouses, Patrizia Proietti-Ianelli and her husband John, Giovanni Proietti and his husband John Cassidy, and Analisa Meier and her husband James; her grandchildren, Lauren Rose Ianelli, and Evan Meier and his wife Bailey; her siblings, Fernando Lupinacci, Anna Guadagnoli, and Marina Yogel; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Maria was looking forward to the birth of her first great-granddaughter this week.

Visitation will be held at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Columba Church on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM, where we will come together to honor Maria's faith and the love she spread throughout her life. Following the Mass, Maria will entombed at the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
