EAST FISHKILL – Maria E. Zedlovich, 74, formerly of Rego Park and Whitestone, died peacefully at her home on August 10, 2024 following a 10 year battle with Parkinson Disease.
Born in Queens on August 29, 1949, she was the daughter of Christ and Angelika (Fertsadas) Chahalis. Maria had been employed in jewelry sales at JC Penney in the Bronx and New Hyde Park. She was a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Whitestone and St Gregory's Orthodox Church in Wappingers Falls.
In addition to being an Elvis Presley fan, Maria enjoyed vacationing, cruising, going out to dinner, and doing crafts.
On February 23, 1969 in Flushing, Maria married Steven S. Zedlovich who predeceased her on December 14, 2013. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Cassandra and Josef Abt, and Anastasia and James Maxwell; her grandchildren, Sebastian, Alexander, Victoria, Jamie, Joseph and Daniel; many nieces and nephews; her cousin, Helen Karter; her lifelong friend, Christine Johnson; and her wonderful caretakers.
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30am at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 1465 Clintonville Street, Whitestone followed by interment in Flushing Cemetery.
