Marie A. Bumbolow, 93, passed away on January 31, 2024 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT. Marie had lived with her children over the last few years, and previously lived in Hawthorne and Florida.
Born on March 15, 1930 in Mount Vernon, Marie was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Sparacino) Santangelo. She retired from Drexal Burnham in Hawthorne where she worked for many years.
Marie enjoyed playing the piano as well as dancing. As a young woman she greatly enjoyed art, working primarily with pencil and watercolor. In later years she enjoyed painting ceramic pieces which her family now cherish.
She was a very faithful Christian who, along with her husband, served as a church elder and was involved with many ministries. She shared her skills as an active member of her faith community in Florida and acted as Secretary for her local Women's Aglow Fellowship.
Her husband, Thomas Bumbolow, predeceased her on October 20, 2011 after 60+ years of marriage. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Bill and Carol Bumbolow of Putnam Valley, NY; Jean and Karl Seeley of Wolcott, CT, and Robert and Sally Bumbolow of Hopewell Junction, NY; her grandchildren, Mary Beth and Chris DeSario, Susan and Bobby Russo, Roberta and Michael Phelon, Jennifer Seekircher, Michelle Seekircher and her fiancé Ross, Melissa and Andrew Kennedy, and Shannon Bumbolow and her fiancé Torrey; her great-grandchildren, Sarah, Avery, Hudson, Michael, Faith, Lilliana, Ryan, and Michael; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was also predeceased by her brother, Samuel Santangelo. She is also survived by her cousin Angie Nardelli and her dear friend Inge Klumpp.
Calling hours will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Sunday from 2 -5 pm with the funeral services beginning at 5 pm. Interment will be on Monday at 11 am at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson.
