Marie L. D'Antoni, 93, a resident of Dutchess County since 1974 and formerly of the Bronx, died on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Manhattan on May 18, 1917, she was the daughter of John and Dora Santarsiero Sabia. She was parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and she enjoyed cooking.
On April 30, 1939 at St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, Marie married Louis D'Antoni who survives at home. They worked together for many years in their businesses, Botanical Meat Market in the Bronx and then Hopewell Wines & Liquors in Hopewell Junction. For 34 years, they spent their winters in Deerfield Beach and Naples, FL where Marie was very active socially.
In addition to her husband, Marie is survived by her children, Joanne Piscano and her husband Jim of Monroe, Doris Formosa and her husband Bill of Wayne, NJ and Pete D'Antoni and his wife Janice of Hopewell Junction; her sister, Rose Sabia of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Donna Valentini, James Piscano, Christine Basilii, David Piscano, Kara McConnell, Billy Formosa, Deanna D'Antoni, Jennifer D'Antoni and Michelle D'Antoni; and her great-grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew Valentini, Michael and Olivia Piscano, Nicholas, James and Jack Basilii, Caitlin and Allison McConnell and Michael and Joseph Formosa. She was predeceased by her sister, Mildred Grosso and her brothers, Antonio, Daniel and James Sabia.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
