WAPPINGERS FALLS - Marie V. Gleason, 57, an area resident since 1960 and formerly of Staten Island, died on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence following a long illness.
Born in Staten Island on August 20, 1955, she was the daughter of Kenneth V. Spiro, Sr. and Elizabeth Clark Spiro of Hopewell Junction. She received her Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and was employed in the area for 32 years with the Dutchess County Probation Department, Dutchess County Family Court and the Poughkeepsie Police Department. She recently retired as a Probation Officer for Dutchess County where she was well liked and respected. Marie was an avid fan of the New York Mets and Jets and enjoyed traveling to Cancun, Mexico.
In addition to her parents, Marie is survived by her daughter, Veronica M. Gleason of Wappingers Falls; her sister, Elizabeth Spiro-Carman of Buffalo; her brothers, Kenneth V. Spiro, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Fairfax Station, VA and Stephen T. Spiro of Poughkeepsie; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in the Stanford Cemetery.
