Marie M. Nilsen, 87, died peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at her home. Marie has resided with her grandson, Greg, for the last four years and formerly lived in Cary, NC.

Born in Brooklyn on March 21, 1922, she was the daughter of Pasquale and Mildred Carmella Carrieri LaRegina.  She was employed as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone in Brooklyn for 20 years.  Marie was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.

On August 22, 1953 at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Brooklyn, Marie married Harry A. Nilsen who predeceased her on August 16, 2009.  She is survived by her sons, Greg Nilsen, Sr. and Gerard Nilsen and his wife, Linda; her daughter-in-law, Patti Nilsen; her grandchildren, Greg Nilsen, Jr. and his fiancé, Jenny Minners, Laura Nilsen, Matthew Nilsen and Andrea Nilsen; and her great-granddaughter, Tessa Nilsen.  She was predeceased by her grandson, Anthony Nilsen, in 1987.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 103 Jackson Street, Fishkill.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
