Marie J. Tuthill, 74, a resident of Dutchess County for 52 years, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2011.
Born in Maspeth on May 7, 1936, she was the daughter of Walter and Catherine Mary Mikus Lewandowski. She grew up in Maspeth and had a country home in Farmingville. She attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. Marie had been employed as a legal secretary for the State of New York at Fishkill Correctional Facility. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and a member of the Prayer Circle. She was also a member of the FDR Society, Parents Without Partners and several knitting and reading clubs.
Marie is survived by her children, Cathi Tuthill-Landon and husband Walter of Millerton, John Tuthill and wife Christine of Highland, Steven Tuthill and Roberta Taylor of Highland and Laura Tuthill-Claytor and husband David of Union Vale; her grandchildren, Melissa Landon-Maynard and husband Ben, Matthew Landon and wife Susan, Jordan, Jennifer and Tim, Kyle, Jennifer Tuthill, Emily Ryder-Patrick and husband Howie, Mandee Ryder; her great-grandchildren, Deana Tuthill, Alexander Patrick, Rianne, Nick, Ben and Emily, Eli Maynard; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 1 pm at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram on Monday.
