PLEASANT VALLEY – Mario Stephen Dodaro, 86, a resident of Dutchess County since 1969 and formerly of Westchester County, died on Monday, January 2, 2012 at home.
Born in Rogliano Cosenza, Calabria Italy on August 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Anna Stumpo Dodaro. On January 28, 1951 at St. Joseph’s Church in the Bronx, he married Edith Marie Schappert. Mrs. Dodaro predeceased him on May 17, 1999.

Mario proudly served our country during World War II in the United States Coast Guard. He was a Meat Manager for A & P at several locations in Westchester and Putnam Counties for 35 years until his retirement. He was a parishioner at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley.

Mario is survived by his children, Anna Dodaro of Brookfield, CT, Margaret Dodaro of Brookfield, CT, Stephen Dodaro and his wife Lisa of LaGrange, Thomas Dodaro and his wife Sharyn of Lake Wales, FL, and David Dodaro and his wife Erin of Pleasant Valley; his grandchildren, Christine, Stephen, Jessica, Kristy, Matthew, Jamey, Daniel, Coryn, Lilia, and Anderson; his great-grandchildren, Jack and Dylan; his siblings, Gene, Madeline, John and his wife Arlene, and Rose and her husband George; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by interment at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Putnam Valley with military honors.
