Obituary

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Marion J. Hopper, 88, an area resident since 2000, died on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Ten Broeck Commons.

Born in Manhattan on April 3, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Lillian (Duggan) Cerone. On October 25, 1949 in Yonkers, Marion married Charles Hopper who predeceased her.

Marion had been employed as an office cleaner at the Fist Building in Manhattan until her retirement in 1971. She also liked sharing stories with her family about her employment as an usherette at the Astor Theatre in Manhattan as well as working as an elevator operator for a prestigious Manhattan hotel.

She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Robert Hopper of Washingtonville and Marion Dovico and her husband Sal of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, Elyse, Samantha, Nicholas, Christopher, and Alexandra; and her great-grandchildren, Kristina, Nicholas, Jacob, Chip, Treasa, Abby, and Olivia. She was also predeceased by her son, Charles Hopper in 1980.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christinan Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
