Obituary

Marion Crook Hoyt, 88, a resident of Fishkill since 1973 and formerly of Liberty, died peacefully at her home on Friday, May 30, 2014.
Born in Monticello on August 23, 1925, she was the daughter of Leland and Flora Palmer Silvieus. Marion was employed as a Chief Clerk for the USDA for 13 years, and then by NYSEG as a customer contact representative for 20 years until her retirement 1994. She served as an Elder at the New Hackensack Reformed Church. She was also a member of the Fishkill Historical Society, and a volunteer with the Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Marion lovingly provided a "home away from home" for the cadets at the US Military Academy at West Point.
On August 7, 2000, Marion married Bill J. Hoyt who survives at home. She is also survived by her children, Drew Crook and his wife Beth of Phoenix, AZ, Daane Crook and his wife Marsha of Rye, NH and Dawne Crook-Pilgrim of Everett, WA; her stepchildren, David Hoyt and his wife Pamela of Millbrook, and Linda Curry and her husband David of Inyokern, CA; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 6 step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lee Crook and her daughter, Donna Higgins.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am at the New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376, Wappingers Falls with Rev. Keith Tamlyn officiating.
