Obituary

Marion Sullivan Hunting, 92, of Brewster, died on 6 January 2012 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

She was born in Yonkers, 10 December 1919, to the late Thomas and Mary (Ryan) Sullivan. Marion was educated at St. Mary School, Yonkers and the High School of Commerce, Yonkers. She had been employed as a clerk in a small publishing house in New York City and as a clerk in a millinery shop in Yonkers. On September 27, 1942 in Yonkers, she married the late Willard Hunting whom she had met at a YWCA dance.

Marion, who was with her loving daughter, Merrill Spaeth, when she died, was devoted to her family. Over the years, Marion took care with selfless love of her ailing parents, her brother, Harold Sullivan, and her sister, Eleanor DeVito. She also assisted a cousin, Florence Noonoo. After her beloved husband, Will, had a series of strokes, Marion gave devoted care for him at home for the last 4 years of his life.

For many years, Marion and Will spent summers at Tonetta Lake, Brewster until 1977 when they moved from Yonkers to Brewster on a year round basis. Marion and Will had traveled to England and Ireland, the birthplace of her father. For several years, they would spend winters in Florida. Marion enjoyed doing holiday canvas needlework for her family and she loved her soap opera, her bridge games with her lady friends and just visiting with old friends. Marion was a communicant of St. Lawrence O'Toole RC Church, Brewster.

Marion is survived by her son-in-law, Edmond Spaeth of Fishkill, and her granddaughter, Erin Elise and her husband, Tim Murphy of Kingston. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, including, Marie and Edward Keating of Pennsville, NJ; Gerald DeVito of Yonkers; Ron and Andrea Noonoo of Las Vegas, NV; Eugene Newman of Miami, FL; and Robert and Susan Noonoo of Los Angeles, CA. She also is survived by two grandnieces, Jennifer and Josh Dix of Virginia; Christine and Dominic Summers of South Carolina and 4 great-grand nieces and nephews. She had a very special relationship with and fondness for the following: Joice Stewart of Brewster; James and Annie Stewart of Ridgefield, CT; Carole Davis, Paul DeLeo, Samantha DeLeo all of Brewster, and Debbie and Michael Rossillo family of Somers. Despite her pacemaker, Marion had a big, warm and giving heart and shared her love with no regrets with family, friends, and neighbors. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Will; her three daughters, Merrill Marie Spaeth, Denise Hunting and Karen Drambour. Also, she was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Harold Sullivan, and her sister, Eleanor DeVito; and cousin, Florence Noonoo.
