Marion Elaine (Hofmann) Ratschki passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on December 2, 2023. She was born on November 12, 1928 in Queens, NY to the late William and Marie (Scheer) Hofmann.

As a young girl, she did chores on a farm, helping with the animals, and cleaning stalls and raking hay. As a young woman, Marion worked for a law firm in Manhattan. She married Albert Paul Ratschki, and eventually left the law firm to raise her three sons William, Robert, and Edward. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker who made her family feel very loved and taken care of.

Marion and Albert were very involved in their church, first at St. James Lutheran Church in Ozone Park, Queens, where they served on various committees, and then at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie, NY which they attended for many years.

In her spare time, Marion loved to do arts and crafts. She would sew and do needle point, crochet, knit, make pottery, refinish furniture and make wood plaques, among many other things. She had a green thumb and loved to garden and tend to her house plants. For many years, Marion volunteered her time at the LaGrange Public Library. She was also a nanny to Ron and Vicky Kulich and helped raise their daughters.

Marion had many friends and loved to help people and teach them what she knew. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her 3 sons, William Ratschki and his wife Jan, Robert Ratschki, and Edward Ratschki and his wife Renee; and her grandchildren Marissa, Jenna, Eric, and Elizabeth. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Albert in 2022; and her daughter-in-law, Martha Ratschki.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 10am at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Please visit her Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
