Marjorie C. Sawyer, 80, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 17 years and formerly of Lake Mohegan, died on Friday, October 15, 2010 at her home.
Born in Sharon, CT on May 22, 1930, she was raised in Millerton, the daughter of Earl and Pearl Miller Coons. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for Putnam Printing in Mahopac. Marjorie was a member of the Hopewell Reformed Church and she enjoyed traveling.
On June 25, 1950 at the Millerton Presbyterian Church, Marjorie married Cleon Josiah Sawyer who survives at home. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Frieda Sawyer of Hopewell Junction; her granddaughters, Kelly Fears and her husband, Nathan of Hopewell Junction and Amanda Sawyer of Hopewell Junction; her brother, Bill Coons of Millerton; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dianne Irving, on November 23, 1978 and her sister, Eleanor Fullerton, in 2006.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hopewell Reformed Church, 143 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in the family plot in Irondale Cemetery in Millerton. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
