FISHKILL - Detective Mark J. DiDato, 51, passed away on July 13, 2024. A resident of Fishkill, he previously lived in East Fishkill.

Mark was born on January 7, 1973 in the Bronx. In 1985, he and his family moved to Hopewell Junction. He was a 1991 graduate of John Jay Senior High School. Mark started his career as a Corrections Officer at Green Haven Correctional Facility from 1997-2000 before beginning a 21-year career with the East Fishkill Police Department, retiring as Detective in 2021. During his retirement, he worked as a School Safety Officer at John Jay Senior High School.

He was an avid fan of the New York Rangers and the New York Yankees, and enjoyed fishing. Mark will be remembered as an important member of the community and will be missed by all.

Mark is survived by his fiancé, Pina Libertella of Fishkill; his parents, Robert and Edvige (Miniaci) DiDato of Hopewell Junction; his brother, Robert J. DiDato of East Fishkill; many cousins; countless friends; and brothers and sisters in law enforcement. Mark was predeceased by his brother, Sergeant Daniel DiDato on December 18, 2023.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 17th from 6-8 pm and Thursday, July 18th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, July 19th at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
