Marsha Dale Spalding, M.D. (55) of Lubbock, TX passed away on Sunday, May 12th, 2013 after a four-year battle with cancer. Her final days were spent with her family and friends surrounding her with love and comfort.
Born September 20th, 1957 in Beacon, New York, Marsha was the daughter of Robert Gordon Hunt Sr. and Gloria Kendall Hunt (both deceased).
Marsha attended Brevard Community College in Florida prior to being accepted to Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Having graduated Pre-Med, Marsha was then accepted to Albany Medical School where she graduated with a degree in Medicine. Upon completing her residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan, NY, Marsha moved to Dallas, TX in 1990 to work as a Psychiatrist at Terrell State Hospital. She was later promoted to Medical Director and held that position until 1994. Marsha and her family then moved to Nacogdoches, TX where she started her own private practice. After fourteen years in private practice, Marsha returned to the public sector after being hired as Medical Director of Sunrise Canyon Hospital MHMR Starcare in Lubbock, TX. She held this position until May 10th, 2013.
In addition to her accomplishments in the medical field, Marsha managed to make time to be a loving and devoted wife and mother. She valued her family above all else and was highly involved in the lives of her children, never missing a swim meet or a dance recital. Marsha was an incredible woman whose drive and compassion inspired those around her. She will be remembered for her unique ability to touch the lives of those she came into contact with, leaving a lasting impact on their hearts and minds.
She was incredibly loved and will be deeply missed by her husband, K. Roger Spalding, and three children, Erik R. Spalding of San Diego, CA, Chelsea A. Spalding of Los Angeles, CA, and Joshua D. Spalding of Longview, TX. She is also survived by four siblings, Diane Graff of Wilbraham, MA, Sharon Courtney of Palm Bay, FL, Robert Hunt, Jr. of Deer Park, NY, and Gordon Hunt of Wappingers Falls, NY, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, eight nieces and nephews, and one grandchild.
There will be a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 20 at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
